Atlas Copco Selects Vortex OpenSplice DDS for its Latest Construction and Mining Products.
OpenSplice DDS product suite has been selected by Atlas Copco to support the company’s latest construction and mining products.
OpenSplice DDS provides real-time data sharing capabilities for the common software platform being deployed by Atlas Copco across its mining product lines. The company is a world-leading manufacturer of underground and surface rock excavation equipment for the construction and mining industry.
"We selected OpenSplice DDS because it provides exceptional performance, scalability, reliability, and operating system availability," said Tobias Furuholm, Senior Specialist Software Platforms at Atlas Copco. "In addition, it provides important programming language support, including the latest DDS ISO C++ APIs."
Adding OpenSplice DDS to the common software platform will allow Atlas Copco to achieve greater technology re-use and commonality across products than previously possible. The platform is leveraging COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) technologies, such as OpenSplice DDS, to help reduce the costs associated with maintaining “in-house” developed solutions. In addition, OpenSplice DDS enables the company to bring new products to market more quickly and further lower operational expenditure by reducing the maintenance burden required to support multiple different platforms.
